Jawaharlal Nehru, the first Prime Minister of India, notably said, “You can tell the condition of a nation by looking at the status of its women”. The National Family Health Survey (NFHS) is often considered the master document on the healthcare status of India. The methodology of the survey is sound, and the report is published at regular intervals. One of the key indicators of healthcare status is maternity services and fertility rates.[1]

The COVID-19 infection, a global pandemic, caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) has taken a devastating toll on public health with the widespread transmission. To date, it has affected over 160 million people, with as many as 3 million deaths. We present to you the understanding we have about covid in pregnancy, its effects and management. The clinical features, mode of transmission, outcome and management protocols are constantly changing and still unclear. The second wave has impacted pregnant women quite adversely. Obstetricians have called for close monitoring of all pregnant women contracting COVID–19.Keywords
